Inside Line Promotions – MINOT, N.D. (June 19, 2018) – Jason Sides will have a fresh engine in when he tackles a pair of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series shows this weekend.
Sides has battled tired engines the last couple of weeks, including during a doubleheader in North Dakota last weekend.
He qualified 32nd quickest before charging from eighth to fifth place in a heat race on Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks during the Northern Tour. Sides capped the night with a 20th-place run in the A Main.
The weekend concluded on Sunday at Nodak Speedway for the Magic City Showdown. Sides timed in 16th quickest before he finished sixth in a heat race and 16th in the main event.
“With the Outlaws format you have to qualify well and start near the front,” he said. “We should have a better shot at it this weekend with a fresh engine.”
Sides is scheduled to make his debut at Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa, on Friday.
“You get there and try to match it with something you’ve run and go from there as far as gears and setups to have a starting point,” he said.
The weekend will wrap up on Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis., for the Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial presented by Karavan Trailers. Sides has earned three top 10s in his last five visits to the track.
“We’ve had some good runs, but it seems like we’re too tight all night lately,” he said. “I’m going to go in there and plan on keeping myself freed up so I’m not so tight.”
