Inside Line Promotions – MESQUITE, Texas (May 2, 2018) – Channin Tankersley tackled a trio of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series races in his home state of Texas last weekend.

Tankersley and car owner Bruce Griffith kicked off the action last Thursday at Cotton Bowl Speedway in Paige, where Tankersley made his first start with ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ since April 2009.

“For one, we wanted to get some seat time and try learning a bit,” he said. “We had an older engine in that was quite a bit down on horsepower so the biggest thing was to make laps. We did learn quite a bit.”

Tankersley posted his career-best Outlaws result of 17th place that night before he registered finishes of 21st and 20th, respectively, the following two nights at Devil’s Bowl Speedway during the Texas Outlaw Nationals.

“When the tracks slicked off we were relatively competitive,” he said. “When you get on those big, heavy tracks like that we were severely underpowered. We did pass a few cars on Saturday so that was cool. I think we were running 15th when we blew a tire with a few laps to go so that was a bummer.

“Really the experience and everything we learned running with those guys, we hope that translates into the 360 side of things. The biggest thing is they are out for the kill from the drop of the green to the checkered. The pace is really fast with them.”

Tankersley will return to 360ci winged sprint car competition this Friday at Heart O’ Texas Speedway in Waco, Texas, and Saturday at Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas, during the Nolan Wren Memorial with the ASCS Gulf South Region.

“We’ve probably won a dozen races between the two tracks,” he said. “It’s somewhat on our home turf and two tracks that we race relatively decent at. It the rain holds off and we can get one or two in, I think we’ll have a decent showing.”
