Inside Line Promotions – WILMOT, Wis. (Aug. 1, 2017) – Jason Sides is eyeing a return to Victory Lane with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series and there’s no better place to accomplish that feat than the site of this weekend’s marquee event.

Sides and the series will venture to Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Mo., on Friday and Saturday for the Ironman 55, which is the longest race of the season on the World of Outlaws schedule.

Sides scored a victory at the high-banked track in 2012 and he posted a runner-up result in 2015 to highlight the last few appearances.

“That is one of my favorite tracks to go to,” he said. “You can still have fun back in the middle of the pack because it’s such a racy track. There’s action all over it.”

Sides is coming off a World of Outlaws doubleheader that began last Friday at Hartford Speedway in Hartford, Mich. He qualified sixth quickest and placed second in a heat race to make the dash, in which he advanced from sixth to fourth place to start the Battle of Michigan main event on the outside of the second row.

“We went from fourth to third and everything was going good,” he said. “I think we had a caution and it was like a light switch. Everything quit working. I don’t know if I got the tires too hot. From about Lap 8 on I had zero grip and it was slipping and sliding.”

Sides held on for a 16th-place finish.

The weekend concluded on Saturday at Wilmot Raceway for the Badger 40. Sides timed in 10th quickest before he ended fourth in a heat race. That started him on the outside of the fifth row for the main event.

“We started on the outside, which wasn’t very good,” he said. “I got to eighth pretty quick, but on a restart we were on the outside and lost several positions. On another restart where we were an odd number I got back to 12th. It all depended on which lane you were in on each restart. If you could be on the inside you were really good.”

Sides, who ended with a 12th-place result, enters this weekend ranked 10th in the World of Outlaws championship standings.
