Inside Line Promotions – NEW RICHMOND, Wis. (July 10, 2017) – Big Game Motorsports driver Kerry Madsen swept the FVP Platinum Battery Showdown last weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway to give him three World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series feature victories this season, which is tied for fifth.

“I feel like we’ve been leading up to it with great car speed,” he said. “I think the confidence wasn’t an issue, but it helps to get a couple of wins and then you’re more relaxed.”

Madsen and the Muddy sponsored team opened the weekend on Friday by setting quick time during qualifying before winning a heat race from the pole. A four-car inversion lined Madsen up on the outside of the second row in the dash and he gained one position to finish third, which started him on the inside of the second row for the 40-lap main event.

“It was all going to plan,” he said. “We had a good starting position to hopefully get a good finish. We got in the lead. Then we tried to drive as hard as we can.”

Madsen advanced into the runner-up position on the opening lap before he took the lead on Lap 2. He maintained the top spot for the remainder of the race to capture the win.

That gave the Muddy backed team even more momentum entering the event finale on Saturday, when Madsen overcame a high pill draw to qualify seventh quickest.

“I thought our qualifying was really good because the track slowed down,” he said. “To go out late and get in the top eight was huge. I was really happy with qualifying.”

That lined Madsen up on the outside of the front row of a heat race, which he won to lock into the dash. However, an eight-car inversion lined him up on the outside of the third row in the dash.

“I just timed it perfectly (on the start) and got a good run,” he said. “All you want to do is jump a row or get a couple of positions. For us to go from the third row to the front row was huge.”

Madsen powered from sixth to second place in the dash to earn the outside front row starting position in the 40-lap A Main.

“I followed Jason Johnson for a while,” he said. “I was running the top. He moved up there so I moved to the bottom and passed him down there. I ran the bottom in (turns) one and two for a while.”

A late-race caution erased a sizeable lead for Madsen.

“I knew I had a good lead so I definitely didn’t want to see a caution,” he said. “I made a shocking restart, which helped me. Brad (Sweet) slid me in (turns) one and two, which is good because that showed me where he was. I tried to put my head down and go as hard as I could those last few laps.”

Madsen led the final 29 laps to garner his third World of Outlaws triumph in the last 14 races with the series. It also marked his fifth overall fictory of the season.

The team will return to World of Outlaws action this Thursday through Saturday at Eldora Speedway near Rossburg, Ohio, for the Kings Royal. Madsen claimed the $50,000-to-win event in 2014. He has placed in the top 10 during the event finale in six of the last seven years with three podiums finishes.

Madsen has five career World of Outlaws triumphs at Eldora Speedway, which ranks ninth.
