Inside Line Promotions – SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. (Aug. 22, 2016) – Jason Sides finished one spot shy of tying his career-best result at Junction Motor Speedway last Tuesday.
Sides ended with a seventh-place finish during the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series lone visit of the season to the fast track in McCool Junction, Neb.
“The track got faster and faster all night,” he said. “Usually it blows off and gets dusty and slick. It stayed wet.”
Sides qualified 12th quickest before placing fifth in a heat race and fourth in a qualifier to line up on the outside of the fourth row for the main event. Sides maintained a top 10 throughout the feature before posting a seventh-place result.
He took that momentum into the World of Outlaws debut at Angell Park Speedway on Sunday.
“I’d been there before at a midget race and watched,” he said. “It seemed a lot smaller then. The track was a little narrow early, but we qualified decent and got into the dash. We passed Jason (Johnson) and Shane Stewart had a flat to get us another spot in the dash.”
Sides timed in eighth quickest during qualifying before earning a runner-up result in a heat race to lock into the dash. He then gained two positions to finish sixth and start the main event on the outside of the third row.
“We weren’t bad,” he said. “From the middle of the race on the track got real wide. The exit of turn two was against the fence. It was way out there. You had to be careful. You could get into turn one real good and then it got more narrow toward the exit (of the corner).”
Sides battled inside the top 10 for most of the feature before ending 11th.
He will return to action this Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D., and Sunday at Nodak Speedway in Minot, N.D., with the World of Outlaws.
“River Cities is fun and really racey with a lot of passing,” he said. “It always makes for a really good race.
“Nodak is wide and races really good. The track we grew up on was similar to that. It seems like we always do good there so I like that place.”
Sides has recorded a runner-up result at both tracks.
