Inside Line Promotions – OCALA, Fla. (Feb. 8, 2016) – Dale Blaney opened the 2016 Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions campaign on a strong note last Friday despite facing several new circumstances.

Blaney guided the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., sponsored CH Motorsports team to a runner-up result at Bubba Raceway Park, where he captured a second-place finish at the unique track for the second straight season.

“We had a lot of different variables than we normally have,” he said. “We had a new car. We got new wings and had a new tire rule. We had a lot of different stuff. We got better every time we hit the race track. I felt like we made some gains.”

Blaney opened the event by qualifying fourth quickest overall and second quickest in his group. That lined him up on the inside of the second row for a heat race. Blaney ended with a fourth-place result, which, combined with his qualifying points, earned the Mainstream Holdings, Inc., backed team a spot in the dash.

“Once we got to the dash and feature we were back to normal,” he said. “I felt like I had a really good car in the feature.”

Blaney advanced from seventh to sixth place during the dash, which lined him up on the outside of the third row for the 30-lap feature.

“I felt really good early,” he said. “I got by (Danny) Holtgraver, (Bryan) Clauson and (Tim) Shaffer. I closed in and passed (Greg) Hodnett and the yellow came out so I had to pass him again. After passing those guys I felt like I had a good car. They did a great job with the track. It was the best I’ve seen it as far as being able to move around.”

Blaney drove into second place within the first 10 laps. He then stalked leader Kraig Kinser for approximately 10 laps.

“I was a little better than Kraig for a while, but it was so hard to pass,” he said. “I was all over him for a long time. I just never had an opportunity to get by him. Hodnett slid by me right before that last yellow. It was a great race. It was fun.”

Blaney passed Hodnett in the closing laps to secure the second-place finish.

Saturday’s event at Bubba Raceway Park was rained out.

The Mainstream Holdings, Inc., sponsored team returns to action this Wednesday through Sunday at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla., for the 45th annual DIRTcar Nationals with the Arctic Cat All Star Circuit of Champions and the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series.
