Inside Line Promotions – EDMONTON, Alberta, Canada (Aug. 31, 2015) – Travis Rilat earned his two best World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series results of the season last weekend during the 9th annual Oil City Cup at Castrol Raceway.

Rilat and car owner Richard Saumure pocketed finishes of 11th and 12th, respectively, to kick off a busy week and a half of racing.

“It wasn’t anything too special,” Rilat said. “I’ve never been that good at qualifying and we don’t run 410s very often so that makes it a little tough to be competitive with the World of Outlaws.”

Rilat opened the doubleheader on Friday by qualifying 15th quickest. He then finished where he started – fifth – in a heat race to lock into the 15th starting position for the main event.

“We had a really good car in the feature,” he said. “We got up to 11th pretty quickly, but had a left front shock come undone.”

That forced Rilat into the work area to get the part fixed. He restarted at the back of the field and rebounded to post an 11th-place result.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday with Rilat timing in 16th quickest during qualifying. He ended sixth in a heat race to start the main event on the outside of the eighth row.

“The track was really racy,” he said. “They had a big wind storm so it was a lot slicker to start out, but after the heat races they worked the track to make it good for the feature. You could run the top and the bottom.”

Rilat spent the entire feature battling just outside the top 10 before he ended with a 12th-place finish.

“We just never got the thing hooked up,” he said. “It was good enough to keep from being lapped, but not to gain many spots.”

Rilat returns to action this weekend with five races in as many days in Washington. He will compete in a 360ci event on Thursday at Skagit Speedway in Alger, Wash., before the World of Outlaws doubleheader at the high-banked track on Friday and Saturday.

“We run there quite a bit and we run fairly decent at Skagit,” he said. “Hopefully we can do the same this weekend.”

Rilat will then compete on Sunday during a 360ci race at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash., before closing the weekend on Monday at the 3/8-mile oval with the World of Outlaws.
