National Open Benefit stepping up to help injured Sprint Car driver Kevin Swindell

Kolten Gouse, Sprint Car driver Brian Brown and the National Open Benefit is stepping up for injured driver Kevin Swindell.

Brown wore a specially designed helmet honoring the National Open Benefit during his qualifying night at this year's Knoxville Nationals. Originally, the helmet was going to be raffled off to help the benefit.

But plans change.

Gouse and Brown got together and came up with the idea to donate all proceeds from the helmet to Swindell, who was injured in a crash last Thursday at Knoxville Raceway.

All money raised between Friday's World of Outlaws event at River Cities Speedway and the close of the World Finals will go to Swindell. The drawing for the helmet will take place on the Monday after the World Finals in Charlotte.

"This is a great way for us to give back and to help raise money for Kevin and his recovery," said Gouse, organizer of the National Open Benefit.

"This event represents how tight our racing community is and shows that we all come together to help a driver in need. I'm honored to be a small part of it."

Fans can purchase a Brian Brown helmet raffle ticket at the World of Outlaws T-Shirt trailer at any World of Outlaws event. Tickets can also be purchased emailing Gouse at koltengouseracing@yahoo.com.
