Inside Line Promotions – FERGUS FALLS, Minn. (June 23, 2014) – Big Game Motorsports driver Sammy Swindell highlighted last weekend with a top 10 at River Cities Speedway.

Competing with the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series during the first of two visits this season to the bullring, Swindell kicked off the event by qualifying sixth quickest last Friday.

“The track got cleaned off and had a curb built up around it (later in qualifying),” he said. “We didn’t have that when I was out there. We weren’t off that much. If we could have went out at the right time we would have been in the first couple of spots.”

After starting his heat race on the inside of the second row, Swindell finished fourth to lock the Big Game Treestands car into the feature. He started the 40-lap race on the outside of the fifth row.

“It wasn’t exactly the right place to be,” he said. “We lost a few spots and gained a few spots back. It was like we were always on top of cars the whole race. We were going back and forth from eighth to 13th.”

Swindell was securely in the top 10 when he tried the top groove in the closing laps.

“It was a gamble,” he said. “All of the cars had lined up on the bottom. I thought maybe I could get them on the top.”

Swindell’s 10th-place result marked the 14th top 10 of the season for the Big Game Treestands car.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at I-94 Speedway, where Swindell qualified sixth quickest for the second straight night.

“We went out a little late,” he said. “We made a real good lap for when we went out. Unfortunately we were sixth. It just slowed down enough for us to miss it there.”

Swindell ended fifth in his heat race to lock himself into the feature, which was rushed because of impending weather.

“That definitely hurt us,” he said. “We were trying to do some things and didn’t exactly have our tires ready. We were trying to make some changes and get some stuff together and we just about ran out of time. They rushed us so much that we didn’t get a chance to do much with the race car.”

After starting on the inside of the fifth row, Swindell spent the entire feature battling for a top 10 before he capped the night with a 12th-place finish.

“We tried something a little different for the main and it didn’t work out for us,” he said. “It wasn’t any better until the last part of the race when we started catching back up. We definitely improved some things this past weekend both nights.”

The Big Game Treestands team will be in action during a World of Outlaws tripleheader this weekend – Friday at 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa; Saturday at Beaver Dam Raceway in Beaver Dam, Wis., for the 5th annual Jim “JB” Boyd Memorial; and Sunday at Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis., for the FVP Outlaws at Cedar Lake.
