Up and down week for PNR

The inaugural World of Outlaw (WoO) race at Jacksonville Speedway May 7th turned out to be a heck of an evening. Paul qualified 12th, his career best with the outlaws, and won the last chance showdown. There was a pile up at the start of the feature that Paul couldn't avoid and suffered some damage. He was able to continue and managed a 17th place finish.

The team moved on to Wilmot, Wisconsin that Friday for another WoO race. Paul qualified 15th this time, another great qualifying run. He would go on to win the last chance showdown here as well, advancing into another feature with the outlaws. He was hit in the left rear mid-race, causing him to spin up the track, and decided to pull in after that.

The following night on Saturday was the 3rd WoO race of the week, this time at Haubstadt, Indiana. Paul qualified 18th, but locked into the feature directly from his heat race. So after starting the feature 18th and taking a peek at the top 10, Paul ran out of tear-offs, and ran as long as he could until he couldn't see any more.

The next weekend was with the MOWA series. Paul bicycled the car on a rut in the track and suffered too much damage to continue racing at Jacksonville on Friday. Saturday night, the MOWA series stopped at I-55 raceway. Paul won his heat race from starting 3rd, and finished 2nd in the dash after starting 3rd. That started him 2nd on the grid for the feature. He fell back to 5th, but worked back up to second by lap 10, and caught race leader Paul May after being a half lap behind. As he came within one car length of taking the lead, Paul tagged the right rear off the wall entering turn 1, and after a series of violent flips as high as 17 feet, he was able to climb out unharmed.

Quincy Raceway was the last race of the weekend this Sunday, and Paul locked into the dash after a 10th to 5th place finish in his heat. He would start 3rd and finish 3rd in the dash. After starting the feature in 3rd Paul spun out and had to go to the rear. He used every bit of race track to find his way back to 4th place, just nipping for 3rd at the checkered flag.

Paul would like to thank John Nienhiser, Roger Staake, Ralph Willhite, Drake Willhite, Bob Hawks, Blake Richardson, and Andy Bumgarner for all of the effort they put in to getting the car back together this weekend.
