Just 22 Points Separate Joey Saldana, Jason Meyers & Steve Kinser in World of Outlaws Championship Standings Heading into Dodge City Raceway Park

Concord, NC—June 6, 2010—The battle at the top of the World of Outlaws championship standings continues to be a tight one as the series heads west to Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas this week for a two-night show on Friday, June 11 and Saturday, June 12, as just 22 markers separate current leader Joey Saldana, series win leader Jason Meyers and 20-time series champion Steve Kinser.

Following last weekend’s events at the famed Knoxville Raceway, Saldana retrained the top spot in the standings for the fourth straight week. He picked his series leading 16th Top-Five finish of the season last Thursday night with a fifth-place run in the Mediacom Shootout. The native of Brownsburg, Indiana was second quick in time trials in that race to earn four bonus points in the standings and currently holds a 19-point advantage over Jason Meyers.

Meyers used a runner-up finish in the opener at Knoxville to move back into the second spot in points on the strength of 19 Top-10 finishes with 12 of those being Top-Five performances. The California native leads the series with six A-Feature wins this season as he chases his first series title.

Kinser finished sixth in the opener at Knoxville and is currently third in points, just 22 markers out of the top spot as he seeks his record 21st title. The Indiana native leads the series with 21 Top-10 finishes and has been victorious twice this season.

Jason Sides used a fourth-place finisher in the opener at Knoxville to move into the fourth spot in the standings. He followed that up with a charge from 17th to sixth on Friday night to score his 16th Top-10 finish of the season. He was one of just three drivers that finished among the Top-10 in both races at Knoxville.

Donny Schatz, the four-time and defending series champion, is currently fifth in points on the strength of 16 Top-10 finishes, with 10 of those being Top-Fives. He has won twice this season as he chases his fifth consecutive title.

Paul McMahan remains sixth in points on the strength of 11 Top-10 finishes with seven of those being Top-Five performances. He finished 11th and 12th at Knoxville with a very stout field of cars signed in.

Lucas Wolfe is currently seventh in points. The native of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania finished fourth on Friday night at Knoxville in the inverted race to pick up his seventh Top-Five finish of the season as he continues to close in on his first career series win.

Danny Lasoski used a seventh-place finish last Thursday night at Knoxville Raceway to move into eighth in the championship standings. The 2001 World of Outlaws champion has 12 Top-10 finishes this season with four of those being Top-Five runs.

Jac Haudenschild, who was victorious on Friday night in the Hall of Fame Classic Presented by Mediacom, is currently ninth in points on the strength of 12 Top-10 finishes with five Top-Five performances, including two wins.

Craig Dollansky came all the way from the 24th starting spot after switching to a back-up car prior to the main event last Thursday night at Knoxville to finish 10th, earning the KSE Racing Products Hard Charger Award in the process and remains 10th in points. The native of Elk River, Minnesota has 11 Top-10 finishes this season with four Top-Five and a win.

The Hall of Fame Classic Presented by Mediacom last Friday night at Knoxville featured a special inverted line-up from the finish of Thursday’s night event and thus each driver that participated earned 75 “Show-up” points for night.

The World of Outlaws are back in action this coming Friday and Saturday at Dodge City Raceway Park in Kansas.
