Battle at the Top of the World of Outlaws Standings Gets Closer Heading into Memorial Day Weekend: Just 24 Points Separate Top-Three

Concord, NC—May 23, 2010—Jason Meyers used his series leading sixth A-Feature win of the season to move back into the second spot in the World of Outlaws championship standings following the Rumble in Michigan at I-96 Speedway on Saturday night. Meyers trails Joey Saldana by just 14 markers heading into a pair of events this coming weekend. The California native has 16 Top-10 finishes with 11 of those being Top-Five performances. He was second fastest in time trials on Saturday night to earn four bonus points in the standings as he chases his first World of Outlaws championship.

Saldana finished fourth at I-96 to retain the point lead and was the fastest in time trials, setting a new track record to earn five bonus points. The second generation driver leads the series with 14 Top-Five finishes in the first 19 races of the season. He has won four times as he too chases his first series title. Saldana has an average finish of 4.9 this season to lead all drivers.

Steve Kinser rebounded from a flat tire while running sixth to charge back through the field to finish ninth on Saturday night to earn his series leading 18th Top-10 finish of the year. The 20-time series champion is currently third in points, just 10 markers out of second and 24 out of the top spot as he chases his record 21st title.

Donny Schatz, the four-time and defending series champion, is currently fourth in points. He shredded a left rear tire at I-96 Speedway while running third and wound up 12th. He has 14 Top-10 finishes on the season with eight of those being Top-Fives, along with a win on opening in Florida back in February.

Jason Sides used a third-place finish on Saturday night to move to within 11 points of Schatz as the pair battles for the fourth spot. Sides, who won earlier this season, has 12 Top-10 finishes with seven of those being Top-Five performances.

Paul McMahan, who continues to fill in for the injured Cody Darrah is sixth in points on the strength of a win and 10 Top-10 finishes.

Jac Haudenschild is currently seventh, just 19 points behind McMahan. The Hall of Famer has one win this year to go along with nine Top-10 finishes. He suffered a flat tire while fourth on Saturday night.

Craig Dollansky used a runner-up finish at I-96 Speedway to vault three spots to eighth in points. He won earlier this season and has nine Top-10 finishes. The native of Elk River, Minnesota is just 31 markers out of the sixth position.

Lucas Wolfe rebounded from a spin at I-96 to finish eighth. He has nine Top-10 finishes on the season with four of those being Top-Fives and is just 32 points out of the sixth spot.

Kraig Kinser rounds out the Top-10 in the standings. The third generation driver was running fourth on Saturday night when he lost an engine. He has nine Top-10 finishes on the year and is 32 markers out of the sixth spot as the battle for sixth-through-tenth heats up.
