Crate Racin' USA Dirt Late Model Series
Weather Claims Tuckassee Toilet Bowl Classic
ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. (Feb. 24) — A dismal weather forecast combined with currently wet grounds at Clarksville (Tenn.) Speedway has forced postponement of the 17th annual Tuckassee Toilet Bowl Classic weekend scheduled Feb. 25-27 at the 3/8-mile oval, which was scheduled to include a $4,000-to-win show for the Adairsville, Ga-based Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Series.
The Crate Racin' USA portion of the program will be rescheduled at the high-banked oval, and an official announcement regarding the new date will be made. The event would have marked the initial involvement with the traditional annual event at the William and Laura Scogin-promoted facility for the Adam Stewart-managed organization.
The event is famous for its unique toilet bowl trophies awarded to the winners, which have become among the most coveted trophies in short track racing. The Super Late Model portion of the weekend was rescheduled to March 12-13, with the Friday portion paying $3,000 to win and the Saturday feature offering $5,000 to the winner.
“We know the weather is looking worse by the day for this coming weekend, and we feel it’s best to make this decision now rather than wait until race teams and drivers are on the way here,” Scogin said. “It’s nothing we ever want to do, but we’re often at the mercy of the weather this early in the season. We will make an announcement soon about a makeup date.”
The postponement delays a championship-deciding scenario for the Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Series, since the event was slated to be the next-to-last contest in the eight-race Winter Shootout Series. Clarksville would have been the seventh event of the season for the miniseries, and Dylan Knowles leads Jason Welshan by a very slim eight-point margin (500-492) in the extremely tight battle for the $2,500 title. Jake Knowles of Rome, Ga., is 50 points behind the points leader.
“This was an event that we felt would launch our Winter Shootout Series into the limelight as we head toward deciding a very close championship battle,” Stewart said. “We were definitely looking forward to an exciting weekend filled with the drama and excitement that typically comes with a tight points battle, and it’s a disappointment to not have it happen on schedule. Once we find a new date that takes into account other tracks in the area and their schedules, I think it will serve as a memorable event in our highly-successful 2021 Crate Racin’ USA Winter Shootout Series.”
