Smoky Mountain Saturday Still a Go, Heavy Rain Cancels Friday

Maryville, TN (July 9, 2021) - Heavy morning rain left the track at Smoky Mountain Speedway with unsafe track conditions for this evening. With concerns about the safety of the racers, track and Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series officials decided to cancel Friday’s $12,000-to-win portion of the Mountain Moonshine Classic weekend. Everything is still on for tomorrow, Saturday, July 10th with a 60 lap A-Main paying $20,000-to-win.

On Saturday, the pit and general admission gates will open at 12:00pm (noon). A driver’s meeting is scheduled for 7:00pm with hot laps to follow at 7:30pm. The 604 Late Models and Red Clay 602 Late Models will serve as support divisions at Smoky Mountain Speedway.

For those that have purchased a two-day ticket, hold onto those tickets and you will be refunded when you go through the gate on Saturday. Friday only tickets can be used for entry tomorrow with an upcharge.

Tim McCreadie leads the Lucas Oil championship standings heading into the weekend. Jonathan Davenport and Hudson O’Neal are currently tied for second, 160 points behind McCreadie. Kyle Bronson currently sits in fourth. The points battle is extremely close in positions five through ten, with only 95 points separating Josh Richards, Tyler Erb, Ricky Thornton Jr, Shane Clanton, Mike Marlar, and Jimmy Owens.
