When you hear the words “veteran race car driver” one driver comes to mind on the Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Series Trail: Carmen Perigo Jr. No driver has more experience on the series trail in a variety of different divisions. The veteran of over 20 years of racing yet again returned for a chance at grabbing a checkered flag on the 2020 series trail.

By the final checkered flag of the 2020 season, Perigo had made 7 feature event starts of the possible 13 that were up for grabs, making every feature event that the team entered in the 2020 season. Carmen Perigo also finished inside the top ten in every feature event that he qualified for. Perigo collected three heat race victories in 2020, and was a front runner in the feature events he competed in as well.

Perigo scored two podium finishes of the seven feature events he competed in, scoring a second place finish at the Winchester Speedway. The feature event at the Winchester Speedway was nearly won by Perigo who held off a hard charging Steven Drevicki for as long as he could, before Drevicki would pass for the win with only two laps remaining.

Perigo and the Stehman Racing team are usually a regular fixture when the USAC National Sprint Car Series comes east for the Eastern Storm, but with COVID cancelling the Eastern Storm, it did not stop Perigo from making USAC National Starts. The Veteran driver made a handful of USAC Silver Crown Series starts, including finishing 5th in the series first ever appearance at the Selinsgrove Speedway in August.

While the Stehman Racing Team with driver Carmen Perigo do not run all of the events on the Rapid Tire, USAC East Coast Sprint Car Series trail, look for the team to run much of the same schedule in the 2021 season, sticking to events that are located in Central, and Western PA, with the occasional trip outside of the state of PA.
