Andersen, Grossenbacher, Nichols, Clancy Take Missouri Nationals Qualifying Night Wins

OSBORN, Mo – The first race night of the IMCA Missouri Nationals at US 36 Raceway provided for some fireworks as ten cars into each class locked into the Saturday Main Events.

In the IMCA Modifieds, Steven Bowers Jr. took the early lead and renewed a season long battle with US 36 points champion Chad Andersen. Bowers never had more than a few car lengths lead over Andersen. With a few laps to go, mechanical failure with Bowers left Andersen out front to pick up the win. Mark Schafman, Blake Peeler, Danny Holt and Curtis Dreasher completed the top five.

The IMCA Sprint Cars changed the lead several times during the course of the night. After several back and forth battled, Trevor Grossenbacher had the car out front, holding off a challenge from Toby Chapman to take a trip to Westfall GMC Victory Lane. Chapman finished second with, Stuart Snyder third, JR Topper fourth and Jesse Lindberg in fifth.

The IMCA Stock Cars had a great battle between JJ Baumli, Mike Nichols and Chad Clancy for the top spot. Baumli led early and battled side-by-side with Nichols for several laps before Nichols dominated the rest of the feature, earning a qualifying feature win. Baumli finished second with Clancy third. Connor Masoner and Blake Peeler completed the top five.

Austin Charles had the dominate IMCA Sport Mod for most of the race, before mechanical failure put him pit side. Steven Clancy inherited the lead and drove away for the qualifying night feature win. Derek Hall finished second. Dakota Girard, Adam Vrbka and Chad Shaw completed the top five.

The top ten from each qualifier lock into the pole dash redraw and are guaranteed a top 10 starting position in the final race day, Saturday, October 10.
