For Immediate Release

(Warrensburg, Missouri) Week three of the 2020 season at Central Missouri Speedway (CMS) was a return to weekly race action after two straight weeks of special-event racing.

In attendance were 15 Pure Stocks (2 heats and one feature), 16 Mod-Lites (2 heats and one feature), 15 B-Mods (2 heats and one feature), 14 Street Stocks (2 heats and one feature), and 16 A-Mods (2 heats and one feature). All total the racers participated in 15 events throughout the night.

Pure Stock Recap: Spencer Reiff collected the first heat from his row two starting spot while defending track champion Logan Headley cruised to an easy victory in heat two. Spencer Reiff and Logan Headley started the 15-lap main event from the front row with Headley going ahead with the early lead. Reiff and Jonathan Evans waged a classic early battle for second through a series of early race cautions. By lap 6, Reiff broke free from Evans and began pressuring for the lead but not long after, Evans spun from third and the yellow was back out again. Caution flew an additional two times by lap 10 as Headley continued to lead Reiff and Gale Harper. Headley pulled away over the final five circuits and collected his third top-five run of the year and second victory. Reiff finished a strong second with fifth-starting David Doelz of Warsaw advancing to third. Harper was fourth with Evans rebounding from his earlier spin to claim fifth.

Mod-Lite Recap: David Raffurty was the prevailing driver in heat-race one for the Mod-Lites as his son, Dillon Raffurty, completed an all-Raffurty sweep of the night’s heat races. David and Dillon Raffurty began the night’s 20-lap Mod-Lite main from row one and the pair had a classic battle through the opening five laps, swapping the lead multiple times all the while pulling away from third-running Donnie Dannar. By the halfway point, Dillon Raffurty pulled away to a near full straightaway advantage over his father, David. Meanwhile, Dannar began reeling in David Raffurty and made the pass to second by lap 13. Dannar did all he could to pull close to the leader over the final 7 laps; however, once again Dillon Raffurty set a blistering pace and cruised to his fourth-consecutive victory in the caution-free race. Dannar finished a strong second with David Raffurty third, Garrett Stonum of Lawson, Missouri finished fourth with Michael Raffurty claiming fifth.

B-Mod Recap: Oak Grove driver Steve Clancy collected the heat one victory while last week’s feature winner Patrick Royalty made a last-lap pass to collect the victory in the second and final B-Mod heat of the night. Clancy and Royalty occupied row one for the start of the 20-lap B-Mod main event as Royalty was attempting to keep his Lakeside Speedway and CMS Friday/Saturday winning streaks intact. The lead duo was close early on with a caution flying by lap two, but Jacob Ebert was right in the mix as the race continued. Caution again flew by lap five as Royalty held point over Clancy, Ebert, Sturgis Streeter, and Jeremy Lile. Additional cautions continued to plague the event before lap 10 as Royalty led Ebert, Lile, and Streeter back to green. Ebert began pressuring Royalty for the lead by the halfway point as Lile and Streeter continued their battle. With five laps remaining, it was a four-car breakaway for the lead with Royalty holding a three-car advantage over Ebert. By lap 17, Ebert took to the low side while Royalty rode the top on the way to the white flag. It was a close battle to the finish between the two drivers but once again Royalty prevailed as he continued his Friday to Saturday hot streak alive. Ebert settled for second just behind with Jeremy Lile, who recorded his strongest run of the year in third. Streeter came away fourth with Kody Bray with his best run of the year in fifth.

Street Stock Recap: Nick Whalen of Kansas City, Kansas collected the first Street Stock heat of the night with fourth-starting Eric Hammons of Smithton taking the checkers in heat two. Hammons and Whalen took the initial green flag for the 15-lap Street Stock main event with Hammons leading the opening lap over Aaron Poe and Whalen. Cautions filled the first five laps as drivers tried to settle into a race rhythm with Poe in command of the race over John Brooks, Dallas White, Nathan Vaugh, and Hammons. By lap eight, Poe had a five-car length advantage over Brooks. Cautions continued through lap ten as Poe continued high while Brooks searched low. A close battle began to shape up between Carter and White for third as the field searched for the final four laps. Poe continued his dominance and pulled away for his second-consecutive victory over Brooks and Carter who were nearly side-by-side at the line for second. Brooks claimed the runner-up position with Carter third, White held strong for a fourth place run with Nathan Vaughn in fifth.

A-Mod Recap: Dean Wille of Warrensburg completed a mid-race pass for the win in heat one for the A-Mods while Gunner Martin ran strong from his second starting position to pick up the final heat race of the night. Wille and Martin set sail for the 25-lap A-Mod main event for the final event of the evening with Wille leading the opening circuit ahead of Martin on the high side. Martin took command by lap three sweeping off the turn four area as Wille ran second ahead of Jimmy Dowell. Shad Badder, fresh off his Friday night Lakeside Speedway victory, moved to fourth position by lap six in a close battle with Dustin Hodges. By lap ten, Martin led Wille, Hodges, Badder, and Tim Karrick inside the top five. Martin continued pressing hard off turn four and several times put the right-rear of the car right up against the fence on exit as Wille ever so slowly began to creep closer by lap 15. Midway through the race, Tim Karrick, Schultz, and Badder had a great battle going just as Martin approached lapped traffic with Wille and Hodges closing in. On lap 19, Johnny Wyman’s car contacted the front-stretch wall as the caution flew for the first time after 19 straight laps of green-flag racing. Martin was the leader for the restart ahead of Wille, Hodges, Karrick, and Schultz with six laps remaining. Late cautions slowed the race twice, one of which officials deemed Karrick’s car to have left the race surface on the inside of the track in turn two to bring out the yellow. Meanwhile, Hodges closed in for second ahead of Schultz and Wille late in the race. In the end, Martin secured his first victory of the year with Hodges in second. Wille held strong in third with Schultz advancing from ninth to fourth, just in front of Badder in fifth.
