Slinger Super Speedway Tries Again as Sunday Night Racing Returns

(Slinger, WI) After losing two events to the Covid-19/Coronavirus pandemic, and Governor Tony Evers “Safer at Home” edict, Slinger Super Speedway then lost an event to Mother Nature. Staff at the historic quarter-mile speed plant will try again, this Sunday night, May 24, as E.H. Wolf & Sons presents the Memorial Day, “Lets Go Racing” event.

Super Late models will headline a card that features six divisions and will offer fans in southeastern Wisconsin their first chance to see racing, live and in-person, in 2020. The super late models will contest a 100-lap feature with late models, Slinger bees, legends, bandoleros and figure 8’s also in action.

“Excited is an understatement,” said defending Slinger super late model track champion, Steve Apel. “We’ve been working hard this off-season on our race program. We added a few new marketing partners and we’re excited to bring them into the racing world.”

The 2020 campaign will mark the 73rd season at the venerable short-track, dubbed the World’s Fastest ¼ Mile Oval. Spectator gates open at 4:45 pm with qualifying set for 5:00 pm. The first race takes center stage at 6:30 pm.

In the interest of social distancing, a limited number of spectator tickets will be sold. Fans are encouraged to order their tickets early, via the track’s website. Grandstand tickets from the rained-out May 17 event will be honored for entry on May 24.

“The car, the crew guys, the sponsors and the fans are ready,” said Apel. “Now it’s time to strap in and get back to normalcy.”
