Thiel Grabs First Win of the Season!

Friday, June 3rd, the Scott Thiel Motorsports team came to the Manitowoc County Expo Speedway with a strong determination to capitalize on what happened the previous week and lead all 30 laps. Scotty Thiel did just that as he drove the #64 Complete Water STM Sprint Car to victory lane!
Thiel drew an 18 pill which set him to start outside second row of the heat race event. As the green flag dropped, Scotty jumped into the third position and had a strong battle for second. After making the high side work, Thiel grabbed second place and stayed their the remaining laps of the race. The finish would set him to start on the outside front row of the night's 30 lap A-main event. The crew set the car up and were determined to lead all 30 laps this week and not have what happend the previous by only leading 25. At the green, Scotty got a huge jump and roared into turns 1 & 2. Within 5 laps of the 30 lap A-Main event, Thiel encountered lap traffic. Scotty was making the high side work great as he maintained an almost whole straight lead. 26 laps were completed as the nights first red flag came out for a car flipping in turn 2. That bunched the field back up and all lap traffic was sent to the rear. Scotty knew he had to get a good restart and keep doing what he was doing. Thiel got a great restart and never looked back as he crossed the finish line seeing the checkered flag first! "Oh man, this car was hooked up tonight! Cannot thank these guys enough for working hard and putting a great car under me." Thiel Stated after the race.

The next night, the STM crew came to the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds and the Plymouth Dirt Track. Scotty picked a 21 pill and again started outside second row for the heat race. The track was starting to dry out real bad and at the green, Scotty tried to make the top side work but lost some ground as he fell back a few spots. A red flag flew with only one lap in and bunched the field back up. Scotty jumped to the bottom at the green and held the 5th place position all race long, forcing him to come through the B-Main. Thiel started on the pole of the 15 lap B-Main event. Jumping out front right away, Scotty encountered lap traffic real early in the race. Thiel attempted to go high to start lapping cars but lost the lead in the process and jumped back down to the bottom. The track was extremely dry and passing was very difficult. Scotty made it into the 25 lap A-Main event and started in the 19th position. After taking the green, Thiel worked the bottom groove and picked off several cars. At around the half way portion of the Main, Scotty had a good run going in to the turn and bumped into another drivers left rear tire. Scotty noticed that something was not right with the steering and pulled off the track. A few small components had gotten bent in the small mishap and Thiel called it a night.

Although Saturday nights issues occured, it was still a great weekend for the entire Scott Thiel Motorsports team. Pulling off a victory was a great accomplishment and hard work does pay off. STM would like to thank all of their great marketing partners for the 2011 season:
