All Star Circuit of Champions

PA Invasion Night 1: Dewease Dominates at Williams Grove

Camargo, IL (4-30-10) – By Kelly Brown –Public Relations Director – Leading a race from wire-to-wire is quite an accomplishment, especially when you are racing at a track with fierce competition like at Williams Grove Speedway. When the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions faced off against the Pennsylvania Posse tonight, Lance Dewease did just that. In a race that only saw one caution flag, Dewease was on a different level from his fellow competitors from the time the Green Flag flew.

As a result of the re-draw, Dewease was lucky and pulled the ace, giving him the pole position. When the field came to the green, Brian Monteith was by his side, but not for long. With a strong start Dwease would lead the fist lap and quickly dash out to a sizable lead. Behind him would be Monteith, Kerry Madsen, Alan Krimes, and Brian Leppo. On Lap 3, Madsen would take the second position away with a daring move on the outside.

By the time the field had made their sixth revolution of the circuit, Dewease had pulled out to a straightaway lead and the field had settled down into his tire track. It would take until Lap 10 for him to encounter lapped traffic and when he did, it was three-time All Star Champion Dale Blaney who was fighting to stay on the lead lap. Dwease would make a move to get around Blaney after a hard battle and set sail.

By the midway point of tonight’s main event, Dwease was clearly in command leaving the rest of the field to battle for position. In traffic, Montieth and Madsen would fight tooth-and-nail for the second position. On Lap 22, Monteith would claim the second spot using a lapped car as a pick. Behind them, Stevie Smith was on the move moving into the top-four.

The one and only caution period of the night would happen on Lap 24, when the 15 of Adam Wilt slowed and came to a stop underneath the bridge on the backstretch. On the restart, several lapped machines were between the lead lap cars. Dewease would easily jump out into the lead with Madsen and Montieth swapping the second position yet again. At this point Smith made his presence known as he stole third with just three laps to go. Montieth would slip and fall back to fourth, but with just a few laps remaining he wanted more and retook the third position.

When the White Flag was unfurled, Montieth was on a mission. Dwease would easily pick up the Checkered Flag, but behind him the drag race to the finish line was on. Madsen had the position and Montieth wanted it. At the line Montieth would edge Madsen by just a few inches, while Smith and Krimes would round out the top-five.

With night one in the books who will capture the next round of the All Star invasion of the Keystone State? Round one goes to the posse, but will night two go to the All Stars?
