IRONMAN 55 TWO WEEKS AWAY FOR POWRi MIDGETS

PEVELY, MO. (July 19, 2019) - One of the most anticipated events on the POWRi Lucas Oil National / West Midget calendar looms only two weeks away in the form the Ironman 55, a two-day showing at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55 alongside the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars on Friday and Saturday, August 2-3.

A staple on the schedule since 2015, the POWRi Midgets have been on the docket alongside the World of Outlaws for four years now at the Ironman 55. Previous to the recent return to the Pevely, Mo. facility, the POWRi National Midgets encounter I-55 in consecutive seasons from 2006 to 2008.

In those 11 appearances, ten different winners have stepped up to conquer the daunting 1/3rd-mile oval. With triumphs in July of 2008 and August of 2016, Brad Loyet of Sunset Hills, Mo. is the only competitor to strike twice at I-55. The remaining nine victors at I-55 are a who’s who of auto racing over the past decade.

NASCAR Cup Series star Ricky Stenhouse Jr. broke through for his first-career POWRi National Midget win in the league’s inaugural visit to I-55 on June 4, 2006. Current World of Outlaws Sprint Cars Race Director and seven-time POWRi Midget winner, Mike Hess, topped the 2007 show on June 13.

Tanner Thorson of Minden, Nev. led Keith Kunz-Curb Agajanian Motorsports to I-55 victory lane in POWRi’s first taste of the Ironman 55 in August of 2015. All-around sensation Thomas Meseraull backed Thorson up the following night with his own thrilling triumph.

POWRi National Midget champions Zach Daum (August 6, 2016) and Tucker Klaasmeyer (April 21, 2018) each made their own mark at I-55, while Kyle Schuett won his first-career feature on August 4, 2017. In 2018, Jerry Coons Jr. of Tucson, Ariz. and Tyler Thomas of Collinsville, Okla. split a pair of wins in POWRi competition at. the Ironman 55.

Both nights at Federated Auto Parts Raceway at I-55, the pit gates will open at 2:00pm with the grandstands opening at 4:00pm, hot laps and qualifying are set for 6:30pm with opening ceremonies and racing slated for 7:30pm.
