RACE OF CHAMPIONS ASPHALT MODIFIED SERIES READY TO KICKOFF SEASON AT CHEMUNG SPEEDROME ON SATURDAY, MAY 18

The Race of Champions is ready to start engines and entertain fans with another thrilling season of racing, which is set to begin at Chemung (N.Y.) Speedrome on Saturday, May 18, with the running of the “Lid Lifter” 75 for the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series.

2018 Series Champion, Chuck Hossfeld of Ransomville, N.Y., has experienced plenty of success at Chemung in the past and is looking to kick-off the season with a strong run at Chemung.

“We had a good season in 2018 and started off strong with some positive runs and a win at Bronson in Florida,” Hossfeld explained. “We are looking forward to another good year on the Race of Champions Series and we feel that have all of the pieces in place to have another strong performance in 2019. We are itching to get racing again, it’s been too long of a break from February.”

The Modifieds only visited Chemung one-time during the 2018 campaign when Matt Hirschman of Northampton, Pa., won last August. This season, this will be the first of two visits for the Series to the challenging track. The Modifieds will return on Saturday, August 3, for the running of the Rod Spalding Classic.

The Race of Champions Four Cylinder Dash Series will also open at Chemung. It will be the Series first visit the facility. The Four Cylinder division has a strong following at Chemung. $333.33 will be on the line for the winner of the Four Cylinder Dash Series event.

Gates will open at 12:00 pm (noon) with practice to follow at 1:00 pm and qualifying to begin at 2:00 pm on the Saturday, May 18.
