30th ANNUAL TRIBUTE TO TOMMY DRUAR AND TONY JANKOWIAK TO TAKE PLACE AT SPENCER SPEEDWAY ON FRIDAY, JULY 26, 2019

The 30th Annual Tribute to Tommy Druar and Tony Jankowiak for the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series will now take place at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y., on Friday, July 26, 2019.

It is the first time the race will not be held at Lancaster (N.Y.) National Speedway, however, with the current status of Lancaster the Druar and Jankowiak families and Race of Champions management did not want to lose a great event in honor of the two iconic Modified racers.

“We spoke with the Race of Champions,” stated Andy Jankowiak, who was the 2018 winner of the event at Lancaster in honor or his father and uncle. “We didn’t want to lose the opportunity to have the race, but we also had to recognize that to do this, we may have to make a move, so everyone knows the event would take place. We are excited to keep this tradition alive and continue to honor two people that meant so much to so many -- that is truly important.”

There are provisions in place and agreement between the families and Race of Champions Series management that should anything change that the schedule could be adjusted within reason in order to accommodate everyone, including the fans and Series competitors.

The race on Friday, July 26 will feature the same format as recent previous editions of the exciting event for the Modifieds. The race will remain 110-laps in distance with teams having the opportunity to change a single tire during the race.

Druar visited victory lane three times at Spencer between 1984 and 1985, while Jankowiak scored two victories between 1985 and 1986.

Ticketing information for all events will be released in the near future for all Spencer Speedway events.
