USAC wingless sprints run Friday, OCRS Sprints here on Sunday

MEEKER, Okla. (October 1, 2018) - Two days of racing are on tap for this weekend at Red Dirt Raceway.

On Friday the USAC Wingless Sprints of Oklahoma return for their final event of the season. Three-time winner Brett Wilson of Coweta is leading the points chase and will be looking to wrap up his first championship title. Wilson will have to earn enough points keep second place Cameron Hagin of Broken Arrow from catching him. Hagin trails by 29 points coming into Friday’s race.

Friday will also be the final points race for pure stocks and sport modifieds. Hornets and dwarf cars will run on the program as well.

Sunday the Ameri-Flex / OCRS Sprint Car series returns to Red Dirt Raceway for the 2nd annual Salute to State Fair Speedway. The winged OCRS sprinters were last here on March 17 with Sean McClelland taking the victory.

Alex Sewell of Broken Arrow currently leads defending series champion Zach Chappell of Talala in the standings. The feature winner will take home $1,500 on Sunday.

Sport Modifieds will be racing Sunday and will be allowed to run topless for this show. 600cc non-wing micros and vintage open wheel cars will racing as well.

Gate open on Friday at 6 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled for 7:15 with racing getting underway at 8. On Sunday gates open at 2 p.m. with hot laps at 3:15 and racing at 4.

Red Dirt Raceway is located on state highway 18 between Chandler and Shawnee. Exit I-44 at Chandler and follow highway 18 south. From I-40 take the highway 18 exit and head north through Meeker.
