CONNOR SELLARS RUNS TO $2,500 VICTORY AT DELAWARE SPEEDWAY IN ONTARIO

The Race of Champions Asphalt Sportsman Modified Series visited the Delaware (Ontario) Speedway on Saturday afternoon and when the dust settled, Connor Sellars of Owego, N.Y., earned his first Race of Champions Series victory of his career.

Sellars, the Chemung Speedrome, track champion, finished second in the series opener at Evans Mills Speedway and this past Saturday after starting 3rd, he inherited the lead with six laps remaining in the 75-lap feature and went on to score his first series victory.

“This is great,” stated Sellars in victory lane. “We ran very well at Evans Mills and this feels great. We had some clutch problems and my Dad worked his tail off to get this going. It really worked out well for us and I’m very thankful to be here and in victory lane. This is a great win for us and I’m very proud of all my guys.”

Scott Wylie of Blasdell, N.Y., drew the pole and led the early portion of the race until a mid-race restart when Andy Jankowiak of Buffalo, N.Y., worked his way to the top spot. Jankowiak relinquished the lead to Sellars. After sliding back, Wylie worked his way back to finish second.

Jankowiak finished third.

Justin Demelo of London, Ontario finished fourth.

Dave Koslowski of Clarence, N.Y., rounded out the top-five.

Sellars and Wylie split the qualifying races while Wylie posted the fastest time in green-white-checker qualifying.
