Wednesday’s With Wayne: Charging At Hamilton County

Bryan Hulbert – WEBSTER CITY, Iowa (August 22, 2018) While Mother Nature kept Wayne Johnson’s weekend to a single night of racing, Wayne made the most of it earning Saturday’s CP-Carrillo Hard Charger of the Night at Hamilton County Speedway with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com.
Moving up from 12th to seventh, Wayne moved his season total to 33 top-ten finishes aboard the Oil Medics No. 2c.
“I thought the track was pretty cool. I’d never been there before, "commented Wayne. "We drew fifth in our Heat Race and ran sixth. Just had a rough start and fell back one, so that kind of screwed us for the Feature but had a good start and got rolling. Really, I felt like we had an average car, but we still got past five cars but even then, the track was still pretty tough to pass on.”
Rained out the following night at Missouri State Fair Speedway, the plan for the team is to return to competition with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by Sawblade.com at Lake Ozark Speedway on Labor Day Weekend with the $10,000 to win Lake Ozark 360 Nationals presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps.
“Right now, we’re going to take this coming weekend off to get ready. Everything is pretty much single day shows, and just hadn’t found anything that just jumps out a super appealing.”
