ASCS Southwest Up For $2,500 To Win Double At Southern New Mexico Speedway

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (July 25, 2017) The Southwest Region of the American Sprint Car Series returns to the Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces, N.M. on Friday, July 28 and Saturday, July 29 for the “Summer Sizzle” with each night offering up a $2,500 to win, $225 to start A-Feature.
The continuation of a series that began on March 31 and April 1 with Johnny Herrera sweeping the weekend’s action, the Ultimate Showdown, as it’s been dubbed, features an overall high point driver with the Southern New Mexico Speedway gets a $1,000 bonus, wings from Elite Wings and a one-of-a-kind trophy. Second gets $300 and third will receive $200.
With Johnny Herrera in National Tour competition, Royal Jones stands to pick up the Ultimate Showdown championship. Another added bonus in the A-Feature, sixth on Friday picks up a free Hoosier Right Rear. That free tread goes to seventh on Saturday.
Adding to the weekend, the USRA Stock Car Shootout will go down on Saturday with the winner pocketing $5,000.
Going into the weekend, Colton Hardy lead tour standings by 61 markers over the nine-time series champion, Rick Ziehl, who has spent much of the summer at his home track with nine trips on the season. Lance Norick third is trailed by Josh Shipley and Darrell Sickles.
Both nights will feature USRA Stock Cars, Super Trucks, USRA Modifieds, and Legend Cars. Admission each night is $15 with kids 10 and under free. Family pack tickets are $35. Each night begins at 7:45 P.M. (MDT)
The Southern New Mexico Speedway is located 11 miles west of Las Cruces at the Southern New Mexico State Fairgrounds.
