Wade Nygaard Claims Fifth NOSA Win at NCR, First Since 1999

ADA, Minn. (June 22, 2017) – Thursday night at Norman County Raceway, the NOSA 410 Sprint Cars invaded the three-eighths mile oval for the first and only time in 2017. Nine-time and defending NOSA champion, Wade Nygaard, claimed the big check after a thrilling 25 laps.

A soldout crowd watched Nygaard and Thomas Kennedy battle for the lead in the opening laps of the main event, which was presented by Buffalo Wild Wings and the Norman County Fair. Nygaard held off Kennedy’s initial charge and led with little challenge until he reached lapped traffic.

At the midway point, Kennedy mounted a challenge on Nygaard once again as the winningest driver in NOSA history, Mark Dobmeier, entered the fray. Kennedy had a run on Nygaard exiting turn four, but Nygaard took his line away to hold the top spot.

With eight to go, the top three cars were within four car lengths when the lone caution flew to reset the field.

On the ensuing restart, Nygaard got a great jump and pulled away from the field. Kennedy and Dobmeier were left to battle for the runner-up spot as Nygaard recorded his first win at NCR since 1999 and fifth overall.

Dobmeier topped Kennedy for second as Austin Pierce and Shane Roemeling rounded out the top five.

Jamie Trautner dominated the Sanders Metal Products IMCA Modified feature. The driver hailing from Felton cruised to his first win of the 2017 season by nearly two seconds over Tyler Peterson. Brady Petermann, Dale Kraling, and Lucas Rodin rounded out the top five.

Mekinock’s Aaron Olson remained perfect at NCR. The driver of the No. 14 IMCA stock car picked up his sixth win of the season to remain undefeated at NCR.

Norman County Raceway was also in action Wednesday evening with IMCA Stock Cars, NLSA Lightning Sprints, and INEX Legends.

Cullman, Alabama’s Kevin Thomas Sr. picked up his first career win at NCR in the NLSA Lightning Sprints. The veteran driver topped Dexter Dvergsten, as Alan Truscinski, Presley Truedson, and Brody Hutton rounded out the top five.

Tim Church edged out Brandon Schmidt to take the IMCA Hobby Stock win. The win marked Church’s fifth win of the 2017 season.
The INEX Legends feature was claimed by Scott Richardson. The Pelican Rapids driver started third on the grid and bested a hard charging Tim Estenson to take his first win at NCR.

Racing continues next Thursday, June 29th with IMCA Modifieds, SportMods, Stock Cars, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds, and INEX Legends. Green flag drops at 7pm.
