SAPULPA, Okla. (June 29, 2016) Blake Hahn’s weekend may not have ended the way he envisioned, but the performance of the Lucas Oil / JR1 No. 52 was nothing to sneeze at as Hahn tuned a complete 180 from his 2015 debut to post twin top-five runs in the 45th running of the Jim Raper Memorial Dirt Cup presented by Jack in the Box with the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network.

With Thursday’s opener falling to rain, the event reverted to ASCS Heat/Qualifier format with two complete shows. The change favored Hahn.

“Friday night, you had to be up on the wheel and careful of where you were. There were a few times I got the car upset and was lucky to get it back. Last year we destroyed two cars at this race, so my biggest goal was to finish in one piece. Locking into Saturday was an awesome bonus,” said Blake of his opening night run. “The rain sucked, but the track did a great job putting the show together and giving us two complete nights of racing. I know a lot of drivers were vocal about Friday’s track, but with the kind of rains they got on Thursday, I thought they did a good job with what they had to work with.”

Fastest in Hot Laps on Saturday, the track was near perfect for the 40 lap affair.

“We were fast in Hot Laps, but we still weren’t happy with the car. We ended up changing just about everything to set up for what we thought the track was going to do, and we pretty much got it perfect. It was fun to drive and was getting better as the race went on.”

A rewarding fourth place finish was soon dashed however, as Hahn missed the scales.

“I was excited. My crew was excited. Like I said earlier, the goal was to finish, and we came out near the top of the field. I didn’t even think about it until I nosed into my pit, but then it was too late. I may have been DQ’d, but I know I earned that finish and I’m proud of that, but rest assured, I’ll never miss the scales again.”

Looking to the coming weekend, the Lucas Oil ASCS presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network makes the trip to the Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Wash. for the second annual Fred Brownfield Classic.

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend. Grays Harbor is a fun track and I’m wanting to see what we can really do. Last year, we had a pieced together car and struggled so I’m wanting to see what we can do with the setup we have now.”

Blake would like to give a special thanks to Blade Chevrolet and RV’s in Mt. Vernon, Wash. for their sponsorship of the No. 52 at Dirt Cup and the upcoming Fred Brownfield Classic.
