ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints Set For Rematch With ASCS Gulf South This Weekend

TULSA, Okla. (June 6, 2016) Splitting the weekend in the last matchup between the Lucas Oil ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints and the Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region presented by Southern Trailer Works, the two ASCS Regional Tours will go head-to-head once again, but this time, it’s on Texas soil as the Golden Triangle Raceway Park in Beaumont, Texas and Battleground Speedway in Highlands, Texas are set for action.

Kicking things off Friday, June 10 at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park, the regional pairing will at the one-third mile oval will be a test for sure as the Texas oval is tricky at best. With a wall running the entire edge of the track, it’s not uncommon for the wall to become the cushion. So far this season, Mother Nature has kept ASCS action at GTRP to one night with Channin Tankersley picking up the win.

Looking to get the season’s first night of ASCS competition in, the high-banked Battleground Speedway awaits teams on Saturday, June 11. In stark contrast to the Golden Triangle Raceway Park, they do still share similarities in that the wall is usually the preferred line.

What could shake up points for both regions, as the finishes are split based on the region a driver is running for, Marshall Skinner leads the way into the state of Texas with the Lucas Oil ASCS Southern Outlaw Sprints; holding a 31 point margin over defending champion, Michael Miller. Kyle Amerson is third with Derek Hagar and Shane Morgan making up the top-five.

Looking at the top of the standings for the Griffith Truck and Equipment ASCS Gulf South Region presented by Southern Trailer Works, the lead is currently held by Channin Tankersley with Ray Allen Kulhanek trailing by 75. Tommy Bryant, Michael McNeil, and Jacob Lucas make up the top-five in tour standings.

Friday, June 10 at the Golden Triangle Raceway Park, gates will open at 6:00 P.M. with racing at 7:45 P.M. (CDT). The night will also include Jr. Mini Stocks, Factory Stocks, 600cc Mini Sprints, Street Stocks, and Limited Modifieds. Admission is $15 and kids five and under get into the grandstands for free.
