TULSA, Okla. (May 2, 2016) The third time may be the charm as the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network readies for the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic presented by Racinboys.com at Lakeside Speedway on Thursday, May 5.

Claimed by weather the past two attempts, the weather outlook looks like the green flag will finally fly on the series return to the three-eighths mile oval. This year's event marks the first time since Wayne Johnson topped the field on July 4, 2008 that the ASCS banner will be present at the Kansas City oval.

Adding to the Thursday spectacular over the weekend, the BOSS Chassis W.A.R. Sprint Cars are now a part of the lineup along with B-Modifieds.

Matt Covington leads the 2016 driver standings going into Lakeside with a seven point advantage over Johnny Herrera. Looking to back up his 2008 performance at Lakeside Speedway, Wayne Johnson holds third only 20 points away from the lead with Sam Hafertepe, Jr. and Logan Forler completing the top-five in tour standings.

Brad Loyet holds seventh with Aaron Reutzel eighth. Josh Baughman, who leads the Brodix Rookie of the Year standings, and Seth Bergman round out the top-ten with Blake Hahn eleventh. Starting to pick up speed, Steven Russell is 16th, and also in pursuit of the Brodix Rookie of the Year.

Co-sanctioned with the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps, the Thursday showdown is the first of two nights on the week for the Missouri based region as the Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps Open Wheel Showdown takes place on Saturday, May 7 at the Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo.

Jonathan Cornell currently leads the Warrior Region by 17 points after three nights of racing with Cody Baker, Evan Martin, Austin Alumbaugh, and Danny Thoman completing the top-five.

Thursday, May 5 at Lakeside Speedway opens at 5:00 P.M. with Hot Laps getting underway at 7:00 P.M. (CT). Tickets can be purchased in advance at http://www.racinboys.com or the day of the race.
