GOODWIN CAPS OFF SEASON WITH PODIUM FINISH AT FALLOWEEN 50
GOODWIN CAPS OFF SEASON WITH PODIUM FINISH AT FALLOWEEN 50
WISCONSIN DELLS, WI - October 25, 2015 - Coming off of a strong 6th place finish at the Showdown, Team GGR felt really confident going to the Dells for the 1st Annual Falloween 50! The team only made a few small changes before qualifying hoping to free the car up a little bit. Garett qualified 3rd quickest out of 21 cars. He was .036 of a second from setting fast time!
The #29 Burkholder Excavating/Performance Parts Supply Late Model was set to take the green flag in the 8th position for the 50 lap feature. Once the green flag dropped, Garett quickly dropped to the bottom lane and started to move his way through traffic. A caution came out with 29 laps to go for a car that spun in front a Garett, leaving him to drive through the infield to avoid collision.
Green flag came back out and Goodwin was on a mission to the front. 12 laps remaining in the race, Garett has found his way up to 3rd place trying to chase down the leaders. Another caution came out with one lap to go, which meant there was going to be a single file, green white checkered restart. Restarting 3rd, the green flag waved and Garett was on the rear bumper of the 2nd place car of Nick Nolden going into turn one. Racing down the back stretch and into turn three and four, Garett was right there trying to get a good run for 2nd. The white flag was out and Goodwin was doing everything he could to gain that next position but just couldn't get a good enough run to complete the pass.
"We struggled all weekend but finally caught a break today. I just can't thank my team enough for all their hard work this weekend," said Garett, "This was the finish we needed to cap the season off. Now it's time to tear down and rebuild for the 2016 season!"
