Lucas Oil ASCS Set for Grays Harbor Return
ELMA, Wash. (June 29, 2015) The long awaited return to the Grays Harbor Raceway is finally upon us as the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series presented by the MAVTV Motorsports Network takes on the three-eighths oval on Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4.
The series’ first visit since 2013, Travis Rilat and Jason Johnson put together winning combinations at the Grays Harbor Raceway. The win was Rilat’s second at the Elma oval and Johnson’s third. Since 2009, five drivers have claimed victory in eight nights of racing. Roger Crockett struck first on July 17, 2009 with Rilat claiming the following night. Johnson made a sweep of the 2010 visit with the series skipping a year to 2012 when Shane Stewart and Wayne Johnson split the rain plagued weekend.
Looking to carry momentum into the double-header weekend is newly crowned Dirt Cup Champion, Jason Solwold who placed one position ahead of National Tour points leader, Aaron Reutzel.
A comeback weekend for Reutzel who retired early on Friday night with engine woes, the Clute, Texas shoe leads Washington native, and Friday’s Dirt Cup prelim winner, Seth Bergman into the weekend by 71 markers. Johnny Herrera rolls off a fourth place finish and is in the hunt 103 points back in third with Wayne Johnson and Matt Covington currently making up the top-five.
Dubbed the “Fred Brownfield Classic” in honor of the late promoter of Grays Harbor Raceway, action this Friday, July 3 and Saturday, July 4 will begin at 7:00 P.M. (PT) and will include the Northwest Focus Midgets.
Racinboys.com will be on hand with live online PPV available for fans who are unable to attend. The MAVTV Motorsports Network will also be on site recording. Show dates will be announced at a later date.
