NAPA Auto Parts Rumble in Michigan Marks Ninth Straight Visit for World of Outlaws to I-96 Speedway

I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan has been a staple on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series calendar every year since 2007. Prior that that, the series raced at the then-half-mile a handful of times, dating back to 1995. Now an action-packed three-eighths-mile, the oval will mark one of just two stops in Michigan this season for the series.

The NAPA Auto Parts Rumble in Michigan is set for Saturday, May 30 at I-96 Speedway and will feature a full night of racing, capped with a 35-lap, $10,000-to-win main event for the best sprint car drivers in the world.

Last season in the NAPA Auto Parts Rumble in Michigan at I-96 Speedway, six-time and defending series champion, Donny Schatz, who drives for Tony Stewart Racing, powered his way from the fifth starting spot to take the lead from Brad Sweet on the 21st lap to record his first win at the track, adding another venue to the ever-growing list of tracks he has been victorious at in his career. Schatz recently reached double digits in wins this season as he continues to lead the series standings in search of his seventh World of Outlaws title.

Three other drivers competing full-time with the series in 2015 have won at I-96 Speedway over the years. Joey Saldana, who has 91 World of Outlaws A-Feature victories in his career, which is sixth on the all-time series win list, scored his first-career series win at I-96 Speedway in 1995, while he still was an up-and-coming young driver.

Paul McMahan, who is currently fourth in points won at I-96 Speedway in 2013, the last race for the series raced on the former half-mile. Jason Sides also won on the half-mile configuration in 2011.

Steve Kinser, the 20-time World of Outlaws champion, who stepped away from full-time competition following last season, has four wins with the series at I-96, which is the most all-time. Two-time series champion Jason Meyers, who also stepped away from full-time racing a few years ago, is also a multi-time winner at the track.
