Willamette Speedway would be in action on Saturday May 2nd for the annual Fight Hunger Night. The evening would have some great racing and a good crowd would be in attendance to watch all of the action. Classes competing at the historic 1/3-mile clay oval were the Super Dirt Late Models, IMCA Modifieds, Sportsman, and Street Stocks.

The Super Dirt Late Model main event would be a great one. Tangent's Trevor Glaser and Rob Mayea, from Bend, would get the crowd on their feet as they fiercely battled each other for the race lead. The two would swap the top spot several times and because of that it would bring the Metro Services/Dog Lover's Gold Dog Food/Northwest Gas Lines/Rose City RV #29 Rocket of Brian Cronk, from Portland, into the mix. Glaser would secure the lead eventually and put his Mid Valley Farms/Bayer Crop Science/Farmland Tractor Supply #2 Trak-Star in victory lane for his first win of the season.

Brain Cronk would grab second followed by the J&S Farms/Cornett Racing Engines #37 Rocket of Rob Mayea in third. Albany teenager Bricen James was fourth, in his James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body/Crocker's Cars #13 Swartz, while the Don Frank Flooring/Big Sky Landscaping/Mid Ohio Graphics/Metro Services #15 Rocket of Justin Duty, now living in Molalla, was fifth.

In the IMCA Modifieds Collen Winebarger was a man on a mission. The Corbett chauffeur got out in front early and would take off. Albany's Dustin Cady was close to challenging Winebarger for the lead but the Drager Performance/Susan River Reality/Frank's Fab & Auto of Brownsville #7 GRT, of Cady, would spin on the last lap. Winebarger would cruise to the win for the second triumph of the season for the Discount Race Car Parts/FinishLine Graphics/Frisbie Motorsports #SW Shaw By Taylor team but their first at Willamette.

The Rauch Racing #23 Victory of Vancouver, Washington's Chris Quinn was second, for car owner Erika Rauch, while third place would belong to Jeff Lovell from Oregon City in his Lovell Truck Sales/Lovell & Hall Real Estate #40 Shaw. Completing the top five finishers was Brian Cronk, doing double duty and in his Metro Services/Dog Lover's Gold Dog Food/Northwest Gas Lines/Rose City RV #29 Shaw, in fourth followed by Brett James from Albany, in the James Gang Pizza/Lebanon Auto Body/Linn-Benton Insurance #26 GRT, in fifth.

The Sportsman feature would see Crawfordsville driver Tom Yeack show some speed for much of the race. Yeack, in the Cascade Outdoor Power Equipment #49 Pro, led most of the race but would be pressured by Dennis Archer. Archer, calling Halsey home and driving his Archer Floor Covering #39 Swartz, would eventually get around Yeack to seize the lead and eventually the win.

Tom Yeack was a respectable second followed by the Royalty Homes #43 Avenger of Junction City's Sandy Sanders. The rest of the top five would consist of Brian Winkler in fourth, driving the Flatt Muffler/Doerfler Farms/Extreme Motorsports #88 Rayburn, and Tangent's James Slover in his Bubba Gump Shrimp Company #25 Shaw in fifth.

Last but not least in the Street Stocks it would Justin Evans of Lebanon dominating the competition. Celebrating his birthday at the track the driver of the Al Flora owned Albie's Medical Transport/Allied Medical Transport/Monty's Racing Repair #99 Cougar got to the front on lap three and didn't look back. It would be the second win of the season for Evans.

The Big Sky Landscaping #T3 Camaro of Talyn Roberts, from Gresham was second followed by Molalla's Shannon Horn, in his Marson Trucking #13 Camaro. Crossing the line fourth would be Roy Doran of Albany in the Doran Racing #47 machine, and fellow Albany native Austin Bottcher was fifth in his Bottcher Family Racing #19 Camaro.
