Another action packed installment of Northwest Extreme Late Model Series action was on tap for the crowd at the Central Washington State Fair Raceway on Saturday September 20th. Twelve entries from the states of Washington and Oregon would be on the registration sheets to battle it out one last time in the 2014 campaign.

Brad Martin of Warren, Oregon for much of the race was the car to beat. Martin would develop a huge lead in his Reser’s Fine Foods/Wayne Martin Floor Covering/Alliance Automotive/Competitive Edge Sign & Design #99 MasterSbilt only for it to get cut down considerably due to a caution twice.

Shortly after a lap eight restart Martin would lose the lead around the halfway point to Eugene, Oregon’s Jesse Williamson. Williamson, in the Jerry Schram owned Schram Brothers Excavating/Century III Stables/Bodies By Steve-O #16W MasterSbilt, checked out from the rest of the field but would have a tire start going flat in the last couple of laps. He managed to keep his mount out in front the rest of the way to collect the huge victory. Williamson would be the sixth different series winner in 2014 with the NELMS series.

Brad Martin was a very close second followed by the Schram Brothers Excavating/Century III Stables/Bodies By Steve-O #16W MasterSbilt of Jerry Schram from Vancouver in third. The balance of the top five would be made up of Jason Johnson out of Gresham, Oregon in fourth in his T&G Trucking/Jackhammer Trucking/Warpaint Motorsports Graphics #76 Rayburn and Banks chauffeur Robert Duncan in the Greg Walters owned T&G Trucking/Duncan Automotive/American Landscaping #97 Victory Circle in fifth.

Jesse Williamson and Jerry Schram were heat race winners earlier in the night’s events. Williamson would sweep all of the events by also setting fast time of the night and winning the trophy dash. After all the points were tallied Brad Martin would be the series champion becoming the third different title holder in five seasons and doing so by edging out second place by just a mere seven points.

2014 was a great year for the Northwest Extreme Late Model Series which had the tour revisit some tracks they’ve been absent from for a season or two.
