North Dakota's Travis Peery Opens Up WWMS At SSP

Saturday July 19th would be the opening leg of the 4th annual Wild West Modified Speedway and they would kick things off at Sunset Speedway Park in Banks, Oregon. Around thirty entries were on tap for the first round attracting teams from Oregon, Washington, California, Nevada, and North Dakota.

Leading the entire distance of the forty-lap feature would Travis Peery coming all the way from Williston, North Dakota, but originally from Ft. Jones, California. It would be a great start for Peery as it marked the first career Modified Speedweek victory for the Susan River Reality/Precision Chassis Development #6P Precision team.

Corbett’s Collen Winebarger would put his Discount Race Car Parts/Gordy Lee Photography/Frisbie Motorsports #SW Shaw by Jeff Taylor machine in the runner-up position while the Stanford Chopping/J&R Restaurant Equipment/Precision Chassis Development #98 Precision of Alex Stanford from Chowchilla, California was third. The rest of the top five finishers would consist of Cottage Grove native Braedon Hand in fourth driving his Todd’s Auto Body/D&D Automotive/1400 KNND AM/Vintage Inn Family Restaurant #5 Shaw by S.D.M.F. and in fifth was defending Modified Speedweek champ Jesse Williamson from Coburg in the Dustin Comer owned S.D.M.F. Race Cars/F.M. Jones & Sons Quality Trucks and Autos/K.C. Race Engines #ZERO S.D.M.F.

Alex Stanford managed to win the B-Main while the victor of the Last Chance Qualifier was Monte Bischoff of Medford in his Payroll Specialties Inc./Hoppes Construction/Lucas Oil Products #F1 Impressive. The Wild West Modified Speedweek continues at Sunset Speedway Park on Sunday July 20th with racing action scheduled to get underway right around 5:00 PM.

Tickets are Adults $12.00, Seniors/Military/Juniors (13-17) $10.00, Youths (Ages 12-6) $5.00, and Children under the age of 5 are FREE and a Family Pass will be offered for two Adults and up to four Youths for just $35.00. Also the Sunday event will have a Carload Special, which gets a carload, truck¬load, RV-load, etc. of fans into the races for only $25. For more information log on to www.sunsetspeedwaypark.com.
