Sprint Invaders Back at it in West Burlington Sunday!
(Bill W) May 20, 2014 – After a month off, the Brockway Mechanical & Roofing Sprint Invaders are champing at the bit to get back in action! This Sunday night, May 25, they get their wish at the racy 3/8-mile 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa. Drivers will be vying for $1500 to win!
When the series last raced, young Carson McCarl got the win at the Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa. Knoxville, Iowa’s Jon Agan holds a narrow ten point advantage heading into Sunday’s event. Linoln, Illinois native Bret Tripplett is second in points, ahead of Tony Shilling of Knoxville, McCarl of Altoona, Iowa and Josh Schneiderman of West Burlington. Mike Houseman Jr., Bobby Mincer, Jarrod Schneiderman, defending champion Russ Hall and Mitchell Alexander round out the top ten.
The Sprint Invaders held their opener on the bullring in West Burlington in March, and “The Wild Child” Jac Haudenschild came away with the exciting win! In series’ history, Matt Rogerson leads in wins at the venue with five to his credit. Other multi-time victors include Jerrod Hull (4), Bobby Mincer, Kaley Gharst, Matt Sutton, Dustin Selvage (3 each), John Schulz, Mike Houseman Jr. and Joey Moughan (2 each). Selvage (2), Moughan and Russ Hall won events at 34 Raceway in 2013.
Mod Lites, Midget Lites, 4-cylinders and vintage cars are also on the card. There will be a candy dash for the kids at intermission as well!
This will mark the Sprint Invaders 35th visit to West Burlington. Pit gates open at 4:00 p.m., with grandstands opening at 5:00. Hot laps are scheduled for 6:30 with racing to follow.
