In two features in 2014 the Northwest Wingless Tour has produced two first time winners with the series. The NWWT, along with regulars of the Oregon Double Shot Series, ventured to “the house that Fred built” on Saturday May 17th at Grays Harbor Raceway in Elma, Washington for round number two of the new season. Despite threatening weather the whole show was able to be completed.

Leading the first few laps was Astoria, Oregon’s Rich Kelly in his Pick It Powdercoating/ASK Engineering #91 entry. Kelly would lose the lead to Mike Romig who would build a sizeable lead in his Herz Precision Parts #22 Eagle. Romig, from Vancouver, Washington, checked out for the rest of the distance to win his first career feature in a Sprint Car after scoring a third place finish at Cottage Grove a couple of weeks earlier.

Ending the evening in second was the Weedman Ranches #27W Maxim of Guy Weedman out of Moro, Oregon and behind him in third was Brad Rhodes of Aloha, Oregon driving the Pro Tow Racing/Beaverton Automotive #50 Eagle. The balance of the top five would include Forest Grove, Oregon native Jake Gilman in the Habitat For Humanity/Auto-Inter/Scott Raines Excavating #11X Maxim in fourth and the Parker Racing/Heinz Mechanical Inc./Al Ward Logging #15 Rocket of Lake Oswego, Oregon pilot Tony Parker. Earlier in the evening heat races were won by Guy Weedman and Mike Romig.

The Northwest Wingless Tour will venture back to Grays Harbor Raceway on Saturday June 14th for their next event before heading back to the state of Oregon to Sunset Speedway Park in Banks on Saturday the 28th.
