Two Sportsman Modified features on ACT 100 Night

SOUTH PLATTSBURGH – Airborne’s J&S Steel Sportsman Modifieds will take the green twice Saturday as part of the American Canadian Tour 100 race card.

Following a weekly 30-lap event, the Sportsman are scheduled for the first eight 25-lap “bonus” races on the 2014 schedule. DIRTCar Modifieds teams that run with a restrictor plate are eligible to join in the bonus race, which will award NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and New York State points but not affect the track championship standings.

Nineteen cars were on the starting grid for the first Sportsman Modified feature of the season last Saturday, which was won by Travis Bruno of Morrisonville.

Last year’s ACT 300 winner Joey Polewarczyk Jr. of Hudson, NH, multi-time ACT and Airborne champion Brian Hoar of Williston, Vt, Jimmy Hebert of Williamstown, Vt. and Plattsburgh’s own Buck Branham will lead a large field of Late Models back to the Airborne half-mile for the 100-lap main event.

The race is the third event of the 2014 American Canadian Tour and the first of three appearances by ACT at Airborne this season.

Also in action, the Key RD Trailer Sales Renegades and the Busch Mini Modifieds. Post time is 5 p.m. Front gates open at 3 p.m.

Advance tickets may be purchased online – adults/$15. Day of race tickets are adults/$18. Kids 12 and under – admitted free. For additional information, visit www.airborneparkspeedway.com.
