Stronger Together: Short Track Super Series Announces Unified Modified Engine Rules for 2025 Season

VERNON, NY – Stronger together.

For 2025 – the 12th season of operation for the Bob Hilbert Sportswear Short Track Super Series (STSS) Fueled By Sunoco – the STSS Modified division will operate under simple, unified engine and weight rules for the North and South Regions, Sunshine Swing and weekly racing at Fonda (N.Y.) Speedway and Utica-Rome Speedway in Vernon, N.Y.

“A unified rules package across the Short Track Super Series platform is something our race teams have desired for several years,” STSS founder Brett Deyo said. “Throughout the summer months, we have worked with car owners, engine builders, racers and manufacturers to develop a package that we believe will lead the series into the future.”

Notably, the ‘25 rule book will be simplified to three total weights.

• 2,450-pound minimum for big-blocks (max. 477 cubic inches) and open small-blocks (steel-block only, max. 454 cubic inches)

• 2,400-pound minimum on Wegner Automotive ‘Weekend Warrior’ LS 427 (must meet spec sheet) or small-blocks (max. 370 cubic inches)

• 2,350 pound minimum for DIRTcar/NJ/PA small-blocks, Wegner W-16 and Chevrolet CT 525

Ignition rules have been clarified for standard engines and LS platforms (see bulletin below).

DIRTcar-legal bodies will be utilized in 2025. North Region events will utilize sail panels except for the Fonda 200 in September. Standard windows will be run in South Region competition.

The new package will be utilized first at All-Tech Raceway in Lake City, Fla., during the ‘Sunshine Swing’ Feb. 4-8, 2025.

STSS Crate 602 Sportsman, like their Modified counterparts, will utilize DIRTcar-legal bodies for the ’25 campaign. Complete STSS Crate 602 Sportsman rules will be released soon.
