Hoffman finishes third in World of Outlaws title chase
In pursuit of the World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series championship, Nick Hoffman invaded The Dirt Track at Charlotte (Concord, N.C.) to kick off the 18th annual World Finals with Wednesday’s time trial session.
Entering the weekend in contention for the title with Brandon Sheppard and Bobby Pierce, Hoffman advanced into Thursday’s preliminary feature with a runner-up outing in his heat race. Gunning for the $15,000 payday, Nick muscled forward four positions in the 35-lap opener to finish sixth.
Back at the 4/10-mile oval on Friday afternoon, Nick’s second-place finish in his heat race positioned him on the fifth row for the final prelim. Running into trouble early, Hoffman suffered a broken rear end on the seventh circuit that brought a disappointing end his chase for the WoO title.
The 18th annual World of Outlaws World Finals concluded for Hoffman on Saturday evening with a sixth-place finish in the $25,000-to-win weekend finale.
Nick finished third in the final World of Outlaws Case Late Model Series point standings.
