The 2024 Season: A recap

LITTLE ROCK, Iowa (Sept 20, 2024) -- The 2024 racing season has officially concluded for Matthew Lloyd, and that gives us an opportunity to look back at the season performance.

It was a year that saw highs and lows for Matthew as the driver and dad as the crew chief. This season was our first in the rbox pro division, moving up from the rbox class in 2023. It was much stiffer competition, and we really had a great time learning and growing! We raced 8 times, with 5 top 10s and 2 top 5s. He also collected his first ever podium with a 3rd place run.

The flooding in the middle part of the season and sewer issues that resulted cut out a lot of the middle part of the year for us, and the fall didn't go well at all. The early part of the year is where we were at our best. June 8th at Plessis we finished 3rd, which was again Matthew's best ever finish.

Next year we plan to stay in the rbox pro class. As far as a schedule goes, we want to get out and see more places and really not focus on points racing at any specific track. We love racing at Plessis Motor Speedway whenever we can, and we'll also hit Kee Kart Speedway as much as we can. Beyond that, we'd like to run the Tasha Fester Memorial Series up in North Central Minnesota next year, the Mid-Central Showdown Series, and potentially some other tracks that run our class like University Plains, Golden Spike, and potentially Poplar Grove. We'll see how the schedules shake out.

We have a ton of work to do in the off season making updates to the kart and also some other things. On our list are belts, a wing, a new suit, a rebuild of a motor, and many other things. If you want to partner with the team to advertise on our kart, please reach out!

Even with the season over, we still have shirts for sale on our website! Simply go to MatthewLloydRacing.com and hit the "gear" tab. We also want to thank all the partners who make this possible.
