Robards scores of pair of Coles County track titles

RS12 Motorsports driver Harrison Robards claimed Coles County Speedway track championships in A-Class and Outlaw Wing on Saturday after posting two podium results. Meanwhile, his young teammate Zander LaRose also brought home a top-five finish in Junior Sprints to complete an ultra-successful outing for the Spartan Transportation-backed team at the 1/8-mile oval in Mattoon, Illinois.

In A-Class Wing, Robards won his heat race and started the 20-lap feature from the third position. He climbed one spot in the main event and took the checkered flag as runner-up to earn the championship. He came home 1.158 seconds behind Tyeler Taylor, while MacKenzie Meany completed the podium. Luke Newton and Braden Pfeiffer finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

In Outlaw Wing, “Dirty Harry” began the evening by nabbing the fourth spot in his heat. He went on to start fourth in the 20-lap A-Main and turned in a third-place result to claim the track title. In the feature, he rounded out the podium after following Brandon Healey and Devin Feger under the checkered flag.

Meanwhile, in Junior Sprints, LaRose raced to a third-place result in his heat race, then advanced one spot from his starting position in the 15-lap A-Main to finish fifth. He followed Mason Vincent, Kruize Parson, Paxton Belchik and Colton Vogel across the start-finish line.

Also on Saturday, RS12 owner Brian Rieck jumped behind the wheel in the D2 Midgets program. He finsihed second in his heat, but did not start the 25-lap feature.
