Honeycutt scores CARS Tour Tri-County victory
ECMD 125 at North Wilkesboro Speedway On Deck for BLR
HUDSON, N.C. (10/14/24) – Kaden Honeycutt made his maiden voyage to zMAX CARS Tour Victory Lane with the Bryson Lopez Racing (BLR) team over the weekend with a Pro Late Model triumph in Saturday’s CARS Tour 225 presented by GeoCut at Tri-County Speedway.
The pilot of the Atlanta Paving & Concrete Construction, Inc. / Terminal Maintenance & Construction / Dykes Paving & Construction Co. No. 47 Chevrolet SS Pro Late Model was awarded the 85-lap victory after CARS Tour officials penalized Tristan McKee for committing a restart violation.
“It was pretty easy to decide on that restart,” Honeycutt said. “I’m a little biased, but they made the right call. I never even thought about firing because I knew what McKee was going to try and do. I was pretty surprised they didn’t throw the yellow, but I’m just glad they made the right call.”
In qualifying, Honeycutt turned in the second-quickest time of 20 cars with a 15.206-second lap, starting him on the front row for the Pro Late Model portion of the CARS Tour 225 presented by GeoCut.
He remained near the front at the end of the feature and was the control car as the field came to green for the final time. His front-row running mate McKee got a huge launch and went on to take the checkered flag first, but race control ultimately determined he jumped the restart, giving Honeycutt his second win of the season. McKee, Ashton Higgins, Caden Kvapil and Spencer Davis completed the top five.
Since joining BLR in August, Honeycutt has yet to finish outside the top five with the team in a CARS Tour race. Over the weekend, he cut into Davis’ slim points lead as well, and has a chance to win the championship at North Wilkesboro Speedway next week.
Also at Tri-County, Brandon Lopez started 16th in his No. 6 Terminal Maintenance & Construction Chevrolet SS from the BLR stable and brought home a 12th-place result.

BLR now turns its attention to the historic North Wilkesboro track this weekend as the 5/8 mile oval hosts the zMAX CARS Tour season finale. Honeycutt has closed within striking distance of Pro Late Model tour point leader Spencer Davis as the final event nears.
