Stevens takes 10th in MLRA Fall Nationals finale

A trip to Lucas Oil Speedway, the famed “Diamond of Dirt Tracks,” was on the docket for Tyler Stevens over the weekend. At the facility in Wheatland, Missouri, he took part in three days of competition with the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA).

Racing action in the MLRA Fall Nationals tripleheader began on Thursday, bringing 37 series drivers to the 3/8-mile oval. Stevens steered his James A. Rogers Excavating Inc. No. 2 Super Late Model to fourth in his heat race, starting him 14th in the 30-lap, $5,000-to-win A-Main. He was unable to finish and recorded a 20th-place result.

The next night, 35 MLRA Super Late Model racers were at Lucas Oil Speedway for another $5,000-to-win program. Stevens again finished fourth in his heat, then started 13th and finished 15th in the 30-lap feature.

On Saturday, Stevens turned in his strongest effort of the weekend with 32 MLRA teams on hand for the event finale. He grabbed third in his heat race, putting him 10th on the grid to begin the $10,000-to-win main event. Throughout the 50-lapper he stayed close to that spot and ultimately came home in the 10th position.
