Jon Mitchell finishes just outside top 10 at Arrowhead
The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) rolled on Saturday with the Green County Clash at the state-of-the-art Arrowhead Speedway in Colcord, Oklahoma. Jon Mitchell, the 2012 series champion, was among 25 CCSDS competitors seeking the $5,000 winner’s share at the 1/3-mile speed plant.
Mitchell began the evening strong as he turned in in the third-quickest time in qualifying aboard his Texarkana Tire & Wheel No. 5 Super Late Model. He went on to finish second in his heat race and started the 35-lap feature from the sixth spot. He ran in the top five for much of the main event, but ran into trouble on the final lap and came home 11th.
Mitchell remains fifth in CCSDS points with five races remaining on the 2024 schedule.
Friday’s scheduled $5,000-to-win weekend opener at Two Dollar Pistol Motor Speedway in Plumerville, Arkansas, was canceled due to wet grounds.
