Ashton Winger grabs Penton Raceway checkered flag before Magnolia Motor Speedway visit

Ashton Winger kicked off his Labor Day weekend on Friday afternoon at Penton (Ala.) Raceway and competed in a pair of divisions for a weekly show.

Finishing runner-up to Matt Dooley in the 604 Late Model feature, Winger piloted a No. 97 machine to victory in the 602 Sportsman division.

Back behind the wheel of his Mathews Motorsports No. 12 machine on Sunday afternoon, Ashton joined the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) for a Labor Day special.

Starting third in the $5,000-to-win feature, Winger traded sliders for the lead with David Breazeale before his nosepiece took some damage. Unable to shake the handling issues, Ashton pulled off and was scored 20th.
