11th-place result for Mitchell in CCSDS Magnolia run
Jon Mitchell continued his 2024 COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) campaign on Labor Day Sunday with a solid outing at Magnolia Motor Speedway.
At the 3/8-mile oval in Columbus, Mississippi, his Parker Truck Repair No. 5 Super Late Model was among 26 CCSDS entries in the pit area. Mitchell opened the night by qualifying fourth quickest on the track’s “black ice” surface and then took fifth in his heat race. He began the 40-lap, $5,000-to-win feature from the 13th position and advanced two spots to finish 11th.
Mitchell, the 2012 CCSDS champion, jumped to fifth in series points after the event.
A weekend doubleheader had originally been scheduled for the series, but the $5,000-to-win All-American 60 set to run on Saturday at Byram, Mississippi’s Jackson Motor Speedway was rained out.
