NAPA Auto Parts will Double Down for the Prelude and the IMCA Super Nationals

BOONE, Iowa (Aug. 27, 2024)
After the long time sponsor of the Double Down Prelude decided to go a different direction, it only took a five-minute conversation with Kendall Davis, district manager with NAPA Auto Parts, to add their brand to the Aug. 31-Sept. 1 event leading into the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

“The phone rang, and it was not the call I was expecting from (Boone Speedway announcer) Jerry Vansickel,” stated Davis. “He said, ‘Have I got a deal for you!’”

After a short conversation, the two worked out the details to expand NAPA’s already great marketing partnership with Super Nationals and add it to the Prelude.

NAPA enters its third year as the Fan Zone sponsor during Super Nationals and its 1st year as title sponsorship of the Double Down Prelude to the Super Nationals.

Davis also noted, “We are proud of our affiliation with the Super Nationals and now by adding the NAPA brand to the Prelude, it will showcase our NAPA Auto Parts stores and NAPA Auto Care centers from across the nation with all the different teams at Boone.”

As the name of the event would suggest, double features are on the schedule for any division with more than 100 cars competing each night of the NAPA Auto Parts Double Down Prelude at Boone Speedway.

Both Friesen Performance IMCA Modified features pay $1,500 to win and both IMCA Sunoco Stock Car features $1,000 to win on Saturday; if not already eligible, winners can qualify for their respective All-Star Invitationals later in the week.

$250 to win features for Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts will also be held on Saturday, $750 to win features for Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods and $400 to win features for IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks on Sunday if their entry numbers top 100.

“A record 664 cars in those five divisions competed, making last year’s Prelude the second biggest dirt track event of 2024,” IMCA President Brett Root observed. “It also gives drivers the invaluable opportunity to race at Boone right before the IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.”

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National, regional and Iowa State points will be awarded each night of the Prelude.

“Drivers must be pre-registered for Super Nationals to compete in the Double Down Prelude, and all drivers racing at Boone that week will be allowed to hot lap both Saturday and Sunday nights,” Root said. “All Double Down features will be started double file. The only three-wide starts that week in Boone will be in the Super Nationals main events.”

Stealth Racing IMCA STARS Mod Lites run their complete Super Nationals program during the Prelude with heats on Saturday and last chance races, the race of champions and $2,000 to win main event on Sunday.

Pit gates at Iowa’s Action Track open at 11 a.m. both days. The grandstand opens at 1 p.m., hot laps are at 1:30 p.m. and racing is at 3 p.m. Pit passes are $35. Spectator admission is $20 for adults and $10 for students ages 6-17.

IMCA.TV broadcasts both days of the 10th annual NAPA Auto Parts Double Down Prelude as well as the entire week of the Sept. 2-7 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

NAPA Auto Parts stores and Auto Care centers continue to connect professional automotive technicians, at-home mechanics and everyday drivers with quality parts, aftermarket accessories and car care products to keep their vehicles and garage equipment performing safely and efficiently.
